Q&A with Anne Morgan, Director of Federal Sales

This past fall, Code42 welcomed Anne Morgan to the team as Director of Federal Sales! Anne brings 17 years of federal market experience, previously at Proofpoint, VMWare, Verizon and AT&T. Get to know her in our Q&A, including what’s next with Code42’s FedRAMP authorization. 

You recently joined Code42 — what have been your priorities for getting started? 

Anne: First, I am thrilled to be a part of an innovative company that takes great care to create a collaborative and inclusive culture inspiring passion and commitment in their employees. 

My main priority has been to help define a go-to-market strategy for Code42’s success in the federal market. Starting with understanding our product use cases that will resonate with federal CISO’s, recommendations on branding and marketing, engaging and educating our value proposition to the channel, existing customers and prospects. 

Code42 is now FedRAMP Authorized. What does this mean for the organization and how it works with federal agencies?

Anne: Code42’s recent FedRAMP moderate authorization is not only crucial to our success selling to the federal market, but perfect timing as federal CISOs are faced with new risks that make it difficult to ensure data security and compliance in this new work from home model. 

The certification is mandatory for any cloud solution that holds federal data, so without it, there is no sense in building out a federal team!  Our authorization establishes confidence in the security of our product, that we have met the highest standards in cloud security.

What are you looking forward to in 2021? 

Anne: The vaccine and the return of a few in-person meetings would be fantastic!  Regardless, The future for Code42 federal looks bright for 2021 as we now have our FedRAMP authorization and can begin having discussions with federal buyers.  2021 will be a building year as we need to build our team, our brand, and get into the budget cycle.  We already have several VAR’s excited about partnering and agencies who want to talk to us. 

What’s the best book you’ve read recently or the best show/movie you’ve watched recently? 

Anne: I have an answer for both! The best book I’ve read recently was our own Inside Jobs by Joe Payne, Jadee Hanson and Mark Wojtasiak. It was great timing joining Code42 with the book being released shortly after. It was engaging, relevant and easy to follow. It mirrors our Incydr solution of Simplicity, Signal and Speed.

The best show I’ve watched recently is The Mandalorian. I remember my mother dragging me to Westview Cinema in 1977 to watch the original Star Wars and leaving in awe and a fan for life. The family has been watching the second season every Friday wishing each episode was longer!  

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

It’s human nature to avoid conflict and not hear negative feedback. Get to the bad news as quickly as possible – get to the No, so you can learn or move on to get to the Yes faster!
