Code42 Launches CrashPlan Mobile Apps with One-Tap Update

Minneapolis —

Code 42 Software Inc., developers of award-winning onsite, offsite and online backup solutions for consumers, businesses and the enterprise, announces the immediate availability of companion mobile apps for their CrashPlan and CrashPlan PRO backup services. The free apps provide users easy, secure access to all their files backed up online, on any Apple iOS or Android device.

The apps make it easy for users to browse, download, view and share files from their CrashPlan or CrashPlan PRO online backups. Common file types, like pictures, word processing files, slide presentations and spreadsheets can be viewed directly within the apps, or shared with other compatible apps. Downloaded files are stored on the mobile device for fast access. Once downloaded, files can be synchronized with the latest online version with a single tap.

“I love our secure one-touch update; it allows me to update everything with a single tap, or selectively update key files if I’m over a limited connection,” said Matthew Dornquast, co-founder and CEO, Code 42 Software. “This is mile one on our mobile device journey – it’s going to be a great trip.”

With the addition of the iOS and Android apps, CrashPlan extends its already unrivaled compatibility, with full support for Windows, Mac, Linux and Solaris. The CrashPlan apps are part of Code 42's growing family of data storage and collaboration products, which include CrashPlan for home users, CrashPlan PRO for small and medium businesses, and CrashPlan PROe for the enterprise. All the CrashPlan products feature industry-leading security, performance and value.

The mobile CrashPlan and CrashPlan PRO apps are currently available for free download via the Apple iTunes App Store and Android Marketplace. The apps require a current subscription to either CrashPlan+ or CrashPlan PRO. Version 1.0 of CrashPlan apps supports the standard security level of CrashPlan+ and CrashPlan PRO, with support for accounts using elevated security settings ('private password' or 'private key') planned for the next release. A CrashPlan PROe app is expected to coincide with the release of CrashPlan PROe 3.0 later this year.
