A Day in the Life with Field Marketing Manager Andrew Norbin

Welcome to “A Day in the Life” blog series. Each week, we’ll interview one of our team members to learn about their experiences at Code42 to give you an inside look into different roles within our company.

Introducing Andrew Norbin, Field Marketing Manager at Code42. Andrew spends his work day creating regional programs and campaigns that sellers can leverage throughout sales cycles.

Outside of work, Andrew enjoys camping and cheering on his Minnesota sports teams – next stop, Yosemite!

What do you enjoy most about working at Code42?

The people. The people you work with make all the difference in the world. With that said, I think Code42 has a culture that allows people to bring their true selves to work everyday and not be shy about it.

What excites you most about your work?

I enjoy figuring out what makes people tick. Whether that is working with the sales teams or our prospective customers – understanding what people need and want is incredibly interesting to me.

Tell us about your favorite memory at Code42

I’m still somewhat new(ish), but I really enjoyed my first RSA Conference in San Francisco. It was great to be able to spend some time with teammates that I don’t work with regularly. Not to mention, some of our partners put on a pretty good party!

How has Code42 enabled you to maintain a sense of connection while working from home?

It may sound silly, but everyone always has their camera on for meetings while we are remote. Sure, there are times when folks turn it off while they are eating lunch or have bad internet connection, but for the most part everyone has it on. I really enjoy seeing someone’s face while having a conversation. You can get so much more information from non-verbal communication. Was my idea good and they are just saying they liked it? Did they drop from the call or are they just taking a sip of water? Is anyone even listening to me? Non-verbals help me to engage with the conversation and get some of my internal questions answered.

What personal goals do you have that Code42 can help you achieve?

Maybe it’s not exactly a “goal”, but I love to travel and have a list that far outweighs my travel budget. Between my PTO and our hybrid work environment, I’m able to plan trips that may have otherwise been impossible to pull off.

What have you learned recently?

I recently learned my dog (he’s almost 14) doesn’t have a hearing loss, he just doesn’t listen to me.

What about the security industry inspires you as a marketer?

Honestly, the security industry is so passionate, it’s incredible. I’ve worked in custom web development, telecommunications, software… nothing comes close to how tuned in and passionate security folks are.

How do you bring your full self to work every day?

Hmmm…I guess I would have to say “yes” by not even thinking about it. If you have to think about what to say, or what to wear, or how to act, you’re really not being yourself. You are being your edited self.
